We’ve all heard about how cruel celebrities can be towards people who are less of than them. We’ve heard about how they treat people, how high they put themselves up on a pedestal. We’ve even witnessed these upsetting scenes live. With so much technology in the world, you’d think they’d take better precautions to portray themselves as positive role models. You would think they’d avoid negative publicity and learn how to control their emotions. You would think, right? Well I see the problem with a lot of celebrities or wealthy people is they don’t think. They just do and say whatever comes to mind first hand and deal with the consequences and backlash later. In my opinion, it’s a little to late for that.
There’s a rapper by the name of Young Thug who recently disrespected some TSA workers because he missed his flight. From my understanding of the whole situation he arrived late and missed the 45 minute arrival time that the airline gives you to board the plane. On my way to work this morning, I heard the audio of the derogatory remarks he threw at the workers. I must say the least, this is ignorance at it’s finest. He called the women “peasants”, “ants” and “nappy head”. He even went as far as offering them $15,000 to quit their jobs. The young lady could be heard telling him to leave the counter and that her manager would be out to handle the situation. My question to this whole thing is, was all of this really necessary? No, it wasn’t. It was very uncalled for. See the problem with these celebrities of today is they don’t know how to treat people. They don’t know how to talk to people. They think just because they have a couple of zeros followed by a few commas and decimals, that they can treat and talk to people any kind of way. I’m here to inform all celebrities that you are wrong! This is no way to treat people who are less fortunate than you. You don’t talk down on people just because your tax bracket is high than theirs.
The problem with money is it brings out the person you truly are. Most people think that because a person gets a little bit of money, they change. No, they haven’t changed. They just became the person they truly are. It brings out the real you. If you were rude and disrespectful to people before you got money, then you will be ten times as rude and disrespectful when you get money. See the problem is when you don’t have money, people look at you like you are one of them, so your crude remarks don’t hurt as much. But, when you get a few of those commas and decimals behind your name, then people really start to notice who you are. The question is does money really make you wealthy though. Yes, you may be in a better financial situation than the next person, but does that make you wealthy. In my opinion, no. It does not make you wealthy. One of the best quotes I’ve heard so far was “some people are so poor until all they have is their money.”
In order to truly be wealthy in life, you have to have character. You can have all the money in the world and still be poor. Money gets you the things you want. Character gets you the things you need. Anyone can get money. I can win a million dollars on a scratch off today and instantly become rich. That doesn’t mean I’m wealthy. When you have good character, the right doors will open up for you. You will be able to effectively make that million dollar scratch off turn in to 2, 3, maybe even 4 million. If you have bad character, that million dollar scratch off will bring you memories of what you did when you had a million dollars for the first and only time in your life. This is why a lot of celebrity careers don’t last long.
Another problem is when people get money, they seem to forget that they are human as well. They think that all of their problems will vanish. I’m here to tell you that that mentality is what will end you right back in the poor house. Money only creates more problems. The reason being is because money attracts the people you want, not the people you need. You won’t be able to see the people you need because money is blinding. This is one reason why it is the root of all evil. People know that money gives you power. What people fail to realize is with that power comes great responsibility. With that power comes the ability to have self control. With that power comes the ability to do positive things. If you abuse that power then you make it hard for people to want to save you. You shun everyone away from you and all you are left with is your money and your power. But what kind of a life is that. In my opinion, a very lonely one.
One thing celebrities and rich people must consider is that old saying, “what goes up must come down.” Don’t think that just because you are on top of the world and have all the money there is to have that there isn’t someone willing and ready to take your place. No, I’m not talking about killing. A simple rumor can ruin a person’s reputation and tarnish them. A simple slip of the video on the internet can turn potential buyers and endorsers away from you. Please know that revenge is real. If people would keep in mind where they use to be in life, they wouldn’t treat people so negative. Most people seem to forget that they were once a waiter at Ihop or a gas station attendant at the 7-11 around the corner. What they also seem to forget is that it could easily be them again. if you mistreat people while you’re on top, then when or if you should ever fall, those same people you mistreated will not be so merciless on you. If they are it’s because they understand the ups and downs in life, or they have pity on you. Always remember where you came from, because you could easily be there again.
